Peter Dutton set to become Liberal leader - here's what he told 6 News on election day

The former Defence Minister is projected to hold his seat of Dickson despite a swing towards the ALP.

Peter Dutton is reportedly set to be the new Opposition Leader, with Channel 7 reporting he will be elected the new Liberal leader unopposed.


Despite early projections & a swing towards Labor, Dutton has been re-elected in his Queensland seat of Dickson.


Scott Morrison announced he would resign as party leader during his concession speech on Saturday night, with Anthony Albanese sworn in as the 31st Prime Minister this morning.


On the morning of the election, both Dutton & ALP candidate Ali France spoke to 6 News about their chances - here's what they had to say.
