Hamze was allegedly gunned down in 2021.
An investigation into the murder of Bilal Hamze has resulted in the arrest of a 32-year-old male, following an extensive breakthrough that led the Homicide Squad to the arrest at Silverwater Correctional Complex.
Hamze, the cousin of the infamous ‘Brothers 4 Life’ gang leader, was shot in Sydney’s CBD and subsequently died on the way to hospital last year.
Police were quick to establish a crime scene moments after it happened on 17 June 2021 at around 10:30pm.
A burnt-out Audi was also discovered by police in Northwood, some 8 kilometres away from the initial crime scene. The car was located on Fleming Street.
The family connection between Bilal Hamze & Bassam Hamzy was thought to have been the catalyst of the drive-by fatal shooting on the corner of Bridge and Pitt Street.
The 32-year-old male was formerly identified this morning as Samuel John Rokomaqisa. Mr Rokomaqisa was refused bail and is remanded in custody as investigations continue.
