Lidia Thorpe's comments were 'wrong,' Greens leader Adam Bandt says

The comments came during an in-depth interview aired right here on 6 News.

Greens leader Adam Bandt has told 6 News that 2 controversial comments from Senator Lidia Thorpe were "wrong."

In December, Thorpe apologised to Liberal Senator Hollie Hughes after being accused of saying "at least I keep my legs shut" during Senate debate.

Later that month, Thorpe faced backlash over a deleted tweet about the fire at Old Parliament House where she said it seemed like the "colonial system burning."

"Seems like the colonial system is burning down. Happy New Year everyone," she said.

Speaking to Uncensored, Adam Bandt said that "those things were not the right things to say."

"They were wrong."

"To Lidia's credit...she apologised for that first comment, and with respect to that second tweet it was quickly deleted."
