"(This is) the first time I've heard 'MP-elect' after my name, which is lovely to hear."
Brisbane MP-elect Stephen Bates has told 6 News he hopes voters moving away from the major parties at this year's election is a permanent change.
In his first interview since the party claimed victory over the LNP's Trevor Evans, Bates said the rise of minor parties like The Greens is "only going to serve democracy better."
Bates has become the third new Greens MP to be elected this year, following the victories of Max Chandler-Mather in Griffith & Elizabeth Watson-Brown in Ryan.
They'll all join leader Adam Bandt on the expanded lower house crossbench.
