Federal Government announces initiatives to support women fleeing gender based violence

Reaction is flowing in today after the Prime Minister announced several support packages following national cabinet to help end violence against women.

 


They have committed $925.2 million in the federal budget, for financial support for those suffering and wanting to flee abusive relationships. It includes $5000 available in handouts to an individual. The criteria for that package, won't be available until mid next year. 


Albanese also announced $6.5 million to identify age assurance technology, to help keep children safe online, extending an age verification trial. He also announced funding for a new ad campaign to to be released later this year aimed at 'Stopping [domestic violence] at the Start'.



It comes off the back of numerous rallies over the weekend, across the country, demanding for action to end violence against women.
