6 News editorial policies

Our commitment to you.

At 6 News, we're committed to independent and impartial reporting. We set high standards for our team of young journalists, so our viewers can trust us as a credible and legitimate outlet.

1. Independent & impartial

6 News remains independent and impartial, and our reporting is produced without any external influence. 6 News also wants a wide range of perspectives to be heard through our many interviews, giving the Australian public the chance to make up their own minds.

2. Accuracy and corrections

Focus on the facts. 6 News wants all our stories based in fact, including through our own sources. This also means correcting the record if we report inaccurate information, and being as public and transparent about that when needed. If needed, internal reviews will be conducted by the editor, including the deputy news editor.

3. Basic principles

6 News seeks to ensure fairness and the right of reply in our reporting, especially in ensuring we reach people for comment before publication. 6 News follows the MEAA Journalist Code of Ethics.
